Recording "Fantasia Arabesque" With Lithuanian Flutist Dominyka Šeibok

Recently, I had the pleasure of recording Dominyka Šeibok in a Los Angeles recording session during her visit to California. One of the pieces we recorded was "Fantasia Arabesque", which she performed beautifully.

Dominyka Šeibok is a Lithuanian flutist based in Los Angeles. In 2016 she was awarded first prize at the International Juozas Pakalnis Competition, and received a Presidential Honor from the Republic of Lithuania for artistic distinction. She received her Masters from the Hochschule der Künste Bern with Christian Studler and went on to hold the Solo Flute position with the Szczecin Philharmonic in Poland. Dominyka has performed with the Neue Philharmonie München and the International Orchestral Institute Attergau (a Vienna Philharmonic project), and at the Giorgio Cini Foundation in Venice. Her playing can be heard on the SRF Radiostudio Zürich label in Des Knaben Wunderhorn with conductor Graziella Contratto.

As a performer who incorporates movement and dance, she collaborated with choreographer Joachim Schlömer in his 2018 production L’europe Sauvage, and has taught movement courses at the Crescendo Summer Institute in Hungary. Her company Five Skins creates productions which combine live performance with other art forms - their score for the groundbreaking Russian silent film Man with a Movie Camera will premiere at the Wende Museum of the Cold War in Los Angeles in February 2022.

Dominyka is passionate about exploring different musical styles, including free improvisation, and performs on a wide range of flutes (baroque recorder, Lithuanian folk, Native American, penny whistle, Irish flute, shakuhachi and more). She divides her time between the US and Europe, teaching lessons online and collaborating frequently with film composer Herman Beeftink
